With so many amazing things coming together I think a little bit of fun and celebration is in due order. Our living walls have come together and are beautifully hung up around our QAE garden. Go check them out! They are a physical representation of our hard work and growth this year and the class has due reason to be proud!
Problem Solving and Educreations In Math we are putting on our thinking caps and applying all our 3rd grade understandings and concepts to solve some complex and open-ended Math problems. I have left the final presentation/publishing choice up to the individual or small group and have been pleasantly surprised by the posters, Powerpoints, and iMovies created. Most are uploaded onto their Weebly sites and demonstrate not only Mathematical reasoning but also growth in presenting thinking in a clear and organized way! Another great Math undertaking has been placing the students in the drivers seat and creating Math mini-lessons using the app Educreations! Selecting from a 3rd grade standard, individually or in pairs they have selected and taught a lesson explaining the Math concept! The challenge of taking our understanding that one step further through teaching has really allowed them to deepen both confidence and Mathematical thinking. Here are 3 to check out and hopefully will post more as they become published. | Young Authors Day! This past Thursday we had Young Authors Day, where we had a chance to mix up the grades and hear the wonderful published stories and Writings of our friends, siblings, and the QAE community as a whole! It was a great opportunity to celebrate the growth and hard work we all have put into our Writing! From poetry to adapted fairy tales, we teachers had the amazing opportunity to hop from group to group and see how Writing takes shape through the Elementary grades. We also had a guest author, Eric Ode, come and share some of his poetry and songs. He got us all to sing, move, and howdy like a cowboy along to his fun rhymes and silly stories. He shared how his inspiration comes from his own random thoughts and experiences and how he keeps those special moments written down in his own Writing Journal. End of the Year Announcements!June 6th - Poetry Jam! A chance for parents to enjoy the wonderful poetry we have been writing and creating! June 10th - PBL Open House here at QAE! There both 3rd grade classes will have on presentation our wonderful journey through this year's PBL along. Come and see our final living walls in person along with touring through the other grade's PBL's which will be on display as well! |
