Thank you to everyone that showed up and helped plan an amazing Halloween! Everyone came to class today and commented on how much fun the activities were! Also, kudos to the kiddos for being responsible and respectful of each others costumes and not letting it interfere with their learning! Our morning before the festivities was engaging and productive. :) I can't wait for all the photos to come together and create a slide show of everyone and the costume fun!
Student Weebly Websites!
For the most part they have successfully uploaded our first published writing piece along with a short intro on the main page of their site! If possible, take time this weekend to finalize the intro paragraph that briefly describes who you are as a learner and your interests/life outside of school. In third grade we ask that photos posted to the websites be either of the student's hard work, a photo they took, or of family and friends. As much as I love Pokemon and am confused by Minecraft, our Weebly sites are a chance to get to know more about each student! In addition to daily reading, this weekend I would like everyone to blog the most creative way to recycle all their candy wrappers and Halloween remains through perhaps creating something/turning the trash into something new! Be creative and this can either be a thought blurb of a fantastic idea (but not possible to do over the weekend) or it can become the weekend craft project in which I would love to see pictures!
Problem Solving Friday!
Our theme for the day in Math was PERSEVERANCE! I told them a Japanese proverb: Fall down 6 times, get up 7 to really hone in the message and challenged the class to solve these two puzzlers. We talked about strategies to approach such problems and did check ins to talk about what each pair/small group was trying. Three groups managed to solve the one on the left and no one from the class has solved the arrow one... yet! I trust my problem solving thinkers to persevere and find an answer! |
